AIGA stands for American Institute of Graphic Arts, but is better known as “The professional association for design.”
2. Who is it for?
Communication Designers. People in print design, web design, photographers, illustrators, educators, advertising, marketing, editors, printers, interior design, architecture, etc.
3. What is AIGA Southern Miss?
AIGA Southern Miss is The University of Southern Mississippi’s AIGA student group.
4. What are some of our current opportunities?
Fund raisers, student competitions, student exhibitions, field trips (New Orleans, museums, paper companies, printers, design firms, etc.), weekend workshops, portfolio reviews, guest speakers, conferences, discounts on books/magazines, special events
5. What else can we do as a group?
Graphic design meets, sell designs at art walks, online critiques on Flickr, watch videos (Helvetica)
6. What are the long-term benefits?
Add to Resume, networking with other AIGA members/schools, online portfolio, online job searches
